What happens when loving souls gather around a shared, long-term purpose?

How could our wellbeing, communities and future generations flourish if we put children at the center of everything we do?

By helping people to establish Havens of childcare in homes and community centers, Alia’s purpose is to nurture the roots…

Childcare

with roots

Community roots

The future we see is an echo of the past.

Following the wisdom of those who came before, we see communities connecting across the generations, gathered in honor of the children.

The deep, old-growth wisdom of ancestors and elders.
The light and loving support of parents and local people.
The boundless, vibrant energy of teens and adolescents.
The innate wonder and possibility of our children and the children to come.

Led by skilled and soulful Guides, we invite local volunteers to share in the common purpose of nurturing our children and reconnecting at the community level.

Rooted in nature and place

Childcare responding to its local environment

From age 0-6 children model their environment, becoming the world they are in.

Awe, wonder and gratitude are part of every day, inviting a spiritual response in support of what children innately do: play and develop in harmony with nature. We honor natural cycles, changing seasons and the rising and setting of the sun.

As well as the inherent connection this gives to the local ecologies, our Guides help children to foster deeper connections with the unique history, culture and stories surrounding each Haven.

Rooted in love

Nurture (not assessment)

The guiding principle for our systems of nurture is unconditional love. Instead of focussing on scores and assessments we celebrate the unique and inherent gifts of every child: creativity, play, curiosity.

Our Guides are trained to be led by the innate wonder of children.

Food, free play, dance and music are encouraged, promoting healthy self-worth, body awareness and self-regulation.

Roots of sustainable hope

Bringing childcare back into community hands

When families and local people are able to nurture their children, everyone within the community is given new opportunities for economic freedom. And, by bringing childcare ‘closer to home’, communities begin to see just how extraordinary and vital the people who dedicate themselves to nurturing children are.

At Alia, we celebrate the contributions of Guides and ensure they are paid justly. Over time, we aim to raise their status, helping us to refocus at a society level and remember our highest priority as a people: the wellbeing of our children: today and tomorrow.

Rooted in truth

The safety and innocence of children

Today, the legal requirements for childcare are expensive and complicated. Worse yet are the dangers of unlicensed care.

GRACE is our unique, deeply resourced, license-exempt approach. In time, we hope this approach will model a new route, offering safe passage for smaller childcare centers across the US as we all move towards better futures and systems of care for our children.

Our story

It began in Colorado, with an international group of ‘soul allies’ meeting to wonder at the possibilities of our times. Convened by James Oury, the group began with enquiries into love, grace and hope, the rise of the divine feminine.

We named our first Haven Earth Camp and, through the grace of the children and the natural surroundings, we were able to explore and play with the core approach to Alia.

Our international team, formed of elders, healers, dancers, storytellers, technologists, business entrepreneurs, toy makers and more, continues to be guided by the wisdom and tone of children, moving forward with the community love, childlike wonder and gratitude for nature we seek to facilitate in every single Haven.
